OSMC's June update is here
Recently, we celebrated two years of stable OSMC. Today, we're happy to release OSMC's slightly belated June update. It comes with a variety of improvements and fixes. Debian Stretch (9.0) has now been released and we are preparing OSMC for this.
A few days ago, we announced an import security fix for all versions of OSMC.
Here's what's new:
Bug fixes
- Fix an issue preventing Hifiberry Digi from working with 48Khz audio
- Fix an issue preventing some IR remotes from working properly on Vero 4K
- Fix issues with RTL8192EU based WiFI adapters
- Fix issues with MT7610U based WiFi adapters
- Fix an issue with some USB devices on Raspberry Pi
- Fix an issue that may prevent the kernel from updating for a small number of installations
- Fix an issue that could prevent Dolby Atmos tracks from playing back correctly on Vero 4K
- Fix a 64-bit -> 32-bit pointer dereferencing issue which prevented some DVB drivers from working correctly on Vero 4K
- Fixes for skips when playing high bitrate 4K content on Vero 4K
- Fix an issue where playing back 3D content as Monoscopic did not output a 2D picture on Vero 4K
- Fix an issue which could result in frame skips when playing some 23.976fps content on Vero 4K
- Fix an issue where last few seconds of a video clip may not play fully on Vero 4K
- Fix an issue preventing passthrough from working correctly for some users on Vero 4K
- Fix for a Linux security vulnerability known as Stack Clash
Improving the user experience
- Allow GPIO pins > 25 for LIRC configuration on Raspberry Pi via My OSMC
- Add support for removal of old kernels when updating via the command line
- Add support for passthrough when watching Live TV on Vero 4K
- Improved Vero 4K system performance with optimised functions from Linaro's Cortex Strings library
- Add support for 192Khz output on Vero 4K
- Add support for 3D autoswitching on Vero 4K
- Improved Vero 4K playback performance for H264 content with a high number of ReFrames
- Add initial support for analog video out (CVBS) on Vero 4K
Miscellaneous
- Add BBR congestion algorithm support for Raspberry Pi
- Fix fstab line endings for comments (cosmetic)
- Fix an issue preventing hardware acceleration from working on Kodi v18 (Leia) builds for Vero 4K
- Prevent duplicate module installation on OSMC when installing kernels manually on Vero 2 or Vero 4K
Wrap up
To get the latest and greatest version of OSMC, simply head to My OSMC -> Updater and check for updates manually on your exising OSMC set up. Of course — if you have updates scheduled automatically you should receive an update notification shortly.
