Celebrating two years of stable OSMC
Today marks two years since OSMC achieved a stable release. It certainly doesn't seem like it's been this long, but we've been kept busy ever since!
We wanted to thank our users for their support and encouragement over the years, as well as everyone who's involved and contributes to the project. You make OSMC what it is!
Roadmap
When we released the first stable release two years ago, we said that we were just getting started and that very much still feels the same today. In the long term, we're planning on expanding OSMC to run on more hardware and want to make OSMC easier to use. This will allow us to grow our project and reach an even larger audience.
Over the next few months, we'll be making big changes to OSMC under the hood, including a new and more powerful My OSMC and updating OSMC so it is based on Debian 9.0 (codename Stretch).
User growth
OSMC's userbase continues to grow at a fast pace which is always great to see. We are also pleasantly surprised to see how many people have multiple installations of OSMC in their homes.
As OSMC becomes available on more platforms, particularly PC, we expect this to grow even further.
Spread the word
We wouldn't have got anywhere without our users. Some of you have been quite vocal and helped spread the word -- much appreciated.
If you enjoy OSMC, we'd appreciate it if you could do any of the following to help spread the word:
15% discount
Towards the end of the month, we had a surge in Vero 4K orders and we've been struggling to keep up with demand. As we ramp up production, we've taken a small break from shipping orders. To thank you for your patience, we're offering 15% off everything in the OSMC Store.
Here's to many more years of OSMC!
