OSMC's November update is here with Kodi 19.3
At the end of the Summer, we released our largest update ever delivering a new version of Kodi, an improved video stack, support for new Raspberry Pi models and a large number of improvements and fixes.
Since then, we've been working hard to deliver another significant update. This update also features Kodi v19.3 which has a number of bug fixes. One of the more significant changes in Kodi v19.3 includes a fix which improves the playback of videos which have high-bitrate TrueHD tracks. This would previously result in drop-outs when playing back some titles with HD audio passthrough enabled.
Here's what's new:
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue which may result in the display output being set to 1080i on Vero 4K / 4K + when starting up
- Fixed an issue which prevented newer versions of the Widevine library from working on OSMC
- Fix an issue where Kodi may fall back to a lower resolution if a TV or AVR is put in standby on Vero 4K / 4K +
- Fix an issue which prevented enabling audio DACs for Raspberry Pi via My OSMC
- Fix an issue where 3D mode switching would not fall back to 2D/monoscopic on Vero 4K / 4K +
- Fixed some issues with H264 playback on Vero 4K / 4K +
- Fixed an issue which prevented Kodi being compiled for Raspberry Pi models
- Fix an issue where a corrupt bootloader environment could cause issues even after re-installing OSMC on Vero 4K / 4K +
- Fixed an issue which prevented Raspberry Pi's from being booted headlessly
- Fixed an issue which prevented the My OSMC Backup and Restore functionality from working
- Fixed some issues with the playback of IPTV streams
- Fixed an issue with the Pi POE + HAT fan speed
- Fixed an issue which could occur when playing 720p H264 content on Vero 4K / 4K +
Improving the user experience
- Updated OSMC skin translations
- Added new plain colour design for OSMC skin
- Improved and fixed music and video player OSD for OSMC skin
- Improved general media view and info dialogue for OSMC skin
- Added support for Raspberry Pi 2 Zero W
- Automatically disable the staging repository after 14 days if a user activates it to reduce likelihood of them installing an experimental update.
- Added translations for My OSMC.
- Added additional logging to My OSMC log uploader to make troubleshooting easier
- Improved performance when accessing SMB shares via Kodi
- Warn users if they set the GUI output to 4K on Vero 4K / 4K + which is not recommended
- Enable Adjust Refresh Rate option in Kodi by default, setting it to Start / Stop
- Synchronise resolution mode and 3D mode switching so that playback starts more smoothly on Vero 4K / 4K +
- Simplify the selection of 3D modes on Vero 4K / 4K + and automatically select SBS/TAB output if the TV doesn't support frame packed output
- Automatically re-connect to the last paired device when using Bluetooth audio
- Disable CEC initialisation on Raspberry Pi during boot to prevent OSMC from potentially hijacking the display / AVR when booting
- Re-worked and improved My OSMC interface
- Improved support for VESA modes on Vero 4K / 4K+
- Improved Ethernet performance for some Vero 4K + models
Miscellaneous
- Updated Raspberry Pi kernel
- Added support for Adiantum cryptogaphic extensions on Raspberry Pi devices
- Updated video decoding microcode for Vero 4K / 4K+
- Ensure OSMC target installer uses OSMC download servers for additional packages when possible
- Introduce new 'sanitised' header package which has kernel headers appropriate for building against userland
- Updated secureOSMC Trusted Execution Environment supplicant daemon to provide hardened security
- Fix an issue which could prevent UART output from working as expected, particularly if the grounding is poor
- Updated Raspberry Pi bootloader firmware
- Updated Raspberry Pi userland
- Fixed issues with maintenance scripts used for OSMC APT package management
- Vero 4K / 4K +: update Realtek USB Ethernet drivers for customer
- Updated Kodi event clients to support Python 3
